"Words, words, words", said Hamlet.
and M.V. has used them better than anyone else to make me know what i felt in this drawing.
When you say 'I love you', do you know what it means ?
When you invoke God, do you refer to the irascible Jehovah
of the Old Testament or to the first principle of René Descartes ?
Words belong to a long tradition, they have had a long story. They have lived long before you pronounced them. They are crammed with connotations which blur their meaning, therefore they also have a great evocative power. You can never know what you are talking about, no one can understand what you mean ; but being the instrument of words, carrying their strength and making it ring between our teeth, are our only means of being part of the eternal beauty of poetry.
